How It Started

One cow. One idea. A lot of yogurt.

Tom grew up on a small dairy farm in Wisconsin and never lost his connection to the land. He and Amanda started Murphy's Grove with a simple belief: people deserve to know where their food comes from — and to trust the person who raised it.

It started with one Guernsey cow named Gertie in 2022. Demand for raw milk from neighbors and friends outpaced everything they expected. By 2024–2025, Tom and Amanda had built a fully licensed Grade A on-farm dairy processing facility — giving them complete control from cow to label.

Today, Murphy's Grove is home to a small herd of certified A2A2 Guernsey cows, a family (including sons Mathias & Anders), and a growing community of customers who have become genuine friends.

What Makes Our Dairy Different

We don't cut corners. Here's what that looks like in practice.

A2A2 Certified Guernsey Cows

Our Guernseys produce only the A2 beta-casein protein — the type found in milk before modern cattle breeding changed things. Many customers who find conventional milk hard to digest tell us they do great with ours. We don't make health claims — we just pass along what we hear.

Low-Temperature Vat Pasteurization

We use a slower, gentler vat pasteurization process that meets all safety standards while preserving more natural enzymes and flavor than high-heat methods.

Non-Homogenized

We skip homogenization. The cream rises to the top the old-fashioned way. Give it a shake — or spoon that cream into your coffee.

Rotational Grazing

Our herd is rotationally grazed on pasture, supporting soil health, animal welfare, and milk quality — the way it should be.

Grade A On-Farm Processing

We built and operate our own licensed Grade A dairy processing facility on the farm. Full control from cow to label — no middlemen.

Fermentation Focus

Our flagship products are fermented — live-culture yogurt and frozen yogurt — reflecting a commitment to gut-friendly, minimally processed dairy.
